The environment

Our competitors for this demanding work are traditional City shipping and energy firms but CDG is a very different organisation to these large legal businesses. We attract lawyers with the professional and intellectual ability to practice at the highest level but who do not wish to work in a highly leveraged and bureaucratic environment.

Our small size means that our lawyers work together very closely, with a lot of client contact. Associates gain knowledge fast through direct experience and quickly gain the expertise to build their own close advisory relationships with clients. It is common practice for associates as well as partners to travel overseas to meet with clients on projects as they develop.

CDG is a down to earth and meritocratic place to work. Respect is gained for professional excellence. Whilst everyone works hard and puts real enthusiasm into their roles, we are proud of the fact that there is a healthy work life balance across the Firm.

Our employees come to the office because they want to be with their colleagues and to work with the team. Some of our employees choose to work part-time and we are happy to discuss opportunities for applicants interested in flexible working.

Our informality is reflected in a relaxed dress-code and our small size makes us responsive and efficient. Our partners and associates do not get tied up in excessive administration and internal meetings and this brings immediacy to our professional and managerial decision-making.

Our modern, spacious offices are located in a leafy office park close to Heathrow, the better to serve our international client base, but only 25 minutes drive from Notting Hill and West London. The park contains its own gym (to which staff receive subsidised membership), a restaurant and coffee shop. Our partners and associates typically commute out of London or drive in from the Home Counties. We also provide excellent technology and support to enable home working.
