Arranging the legal documentation for the finance of construction and other acquisition projects is an important area of activity for the firm. We have extensive experience of the methods by which finance is raised and provided to the shipping and offshore sectors.

Our clients include shipowners, offshore contractors, shipyards, banks and financial institutions and investors operating in the maritime industry as well as their legal representatives worldwide. We advise companies on the financing of the construction of newbuildings and the acquisition of second-hand commercial ships of all types and characteristics, as well as private yachts and offshore units and the conversion and outfitting of FPSOs and FSOs.

Our experience includes advising on, documenting and negotiating, transactions from the straightforward bi-lateral loan facility to the more complex cross-border syndicated asset-based corporate finance and project facilities, as well as the re-structuring of existing loan facilities. We provide advice and assistance on loan and lease finance (including long and short term bareboat charter structures), and sellers credit facilities.

We advise extensively on guarantees, on all types of security documents and other finance-related documentation and regularly assist owners and banks in connection with the registration of ships, ship mortgages and related security in all of the world's major maritime jurisdictions. We also advise on a large range of related commercial contractual arrangements, including various types of chartering and freight contracts, construction contracts, refund guarantees, performance guarantees, joint venture agreements, and share purchase agreements.
