Glenn Kangisser
Glenn specialises in contentious and non-contentious matters in the offshore oil and gas sector. He advises on the drafting, negotiation and contract management of: drilling contracts, shipbuilding contracts; charterparties (principally LNG); sale and purchase agreements and various other forms of related and ancillary contracts. Glenn has also worked on a number of major disputes in these areas.
In recent years, Glenn has advised on the sale of a semi-submersible drilling rig – believed to be the largest second-hand rig sale by value; the construction of the world’s first dual activity ice-class drillship (a project worth in excess of US$1 billion); a long-term drilling contract for the same drillship with an oil major; two long-term charters for a vessel for an LNG project in Australia; and the entry into various forms of offshore contracts, including assignment agreements for drilling operations covering areas offshore Brazil, Canada, Greenland, Libya, Egypt, Argentina, Malaysia and the UKCS.
On the contentious side, Glenn is currently acting for a major drilling contractor in relation to their claims arising from the construction of a semi-submersible drilling rig in Korea. He is also acting for another major drilling contractor in relation to claims in excess of US$60 million relating to the sale and bareboat leaseback of a semi-submersible drilling rig. Glenn has also recently acted for that same drilling contractor in a multi-million dollar dispute on the operation of a dayrate escalation provision in a drilling contract, which was heard by the Court of Appeal earlier this year.
Glenn has written on various topics of interest within his practice for industry publications, including Lloyd’s List.
