Shipping: Yachts
In addition to our work in relation to commercial vessel newbuilding and conversion, we are also actively involved in the burgeoning leisure market for super and mega-yachts. We represent owners and shipyards involved in high value projects for the construction of these vessels, which are normally designed and built to the specific requirements of private purchasers, and we are very familiar with the particular legal and commercial issues specific to this type of project.
We have acted for several prominent European shipyards in relation to the contracts to construct luxury mega-yachts. These have each involved unique designs and required detailed consideration of certain reference criteria for passenger comfort involving maximum acceptable vibration levels, noise limits and levels of acoustic privacy.
The team routinely advises owners, managers, brokers, designers and builders in relation to building and conversion contracts and financing arrangements for yachts up to 120 metres
